Pereira Family

The following is an update from my brother in law, Mark Pereira who pastors Living Hope Baptist Church in Portugal. Please be in prayer for their ministry, and thank you to everyone who has been praying for Mark as he recently lost his father.

I want to thank all the people that prayed for us because of my father’s recent death. I was able to get to the island of São Jorge, where he lived, after several delays, only one hour before the funeral. Everything went well, with many people present. Because my father and all the family is Roman Catholic, it was a Roman Catholic funeral. It is sad to see so many people with no assurance of real salvation, trusting a religion instead of trusting a Saviour. At the end of the funeral there was a lady, that I have never met before, that came to me and whispered that she was an evangelical believer as well. The Lord was reminding me, at that dark hour, that He was present, despite my imperfections. We want to thank all of the people that gave financially. The last minute plane ticket, the car rental and other expenses would have been impossible to face if it had not been for the faithfulness of God’s people. My sister and I have made all of the major decisions regarding legal matters having achieved a full agreement, with no problem at all.

We would like to ask for your prayers, in a special way, for the evangel-ism activity that is going on this week. Several missionaries and church people will be working in full-time soul winning work for a week. On Saturday there will be a special service with a clear gospel presentation. We are praying that we get to know new people and that others would get saved. We are also praying that our church people would get serious about evangelizing the lost in our town.

Thank you for your missions work for the Lord in Portugal.

In His Service,
Mark and Aura Pereira
